Summer's officially here. Do you need a quick get away without breaking the bank?
Twenty years ago Dallas bid farewell to the Pacific paradise. These days Trader Vic's is the talk of the town. The experience can best be described as virtual time travel. Both the restaurant and the cocktail lounge have been restored to their former Polynesian pop glory. From the exotic umbrella drinks to the famous chinese ovens and the non-stop episodes of Gilligan's Island playing at the bar this place satisfies a big appetite for lost at sea nostolgia. Founded by the late Vic Bergeron and franchised all over the world in places like Beverly Hills, London, Bangkok and Dubai of all places, Trader Vic's is the birth place of the mai tai, a rum-based cocktail that packs a punch. If the retro cool vibe and twenty somethings crowding the bar is any indication patrons and preservationists welcome the return of Trader Vic's.
